Sealed tenders, clearly marked on the envelope "Tender for REMOVAL OF MIDDLE AND LOWER CHASE RIVER DAMS, TENDER NO. 1445" will be received by the Manager, Purchasing and Stores, CITY OF NANAIMO at their offices at 2020 Labieux Road, Nanaimo, British Columbia, V9T 6J9, Fax: 250-756-5327 up to 3:00:00 pm local time on July 4, 2013, at which time they will be opened in public.

It is the sole responsibility of the person(s) submitting to deliver the tender to the Manager of Purchasing & Stores before the closing time.

The works to be constructed under this Contract encompasses all tasks related to the removal of the Middle and Lower Chase River dams, construction of river channel and installation of erosion and sediment control measures. The proposed work will include:

? Dewatering of both lakes and fish, reptile and amphibian salvage,
? Construction and maintenance of a river diversion system for duration of work,
? Removal and disposal of miscellaneous items within dam extents,
? Clearing and grubbing,
? Removal and disposal of asphalt pathway,
? Stripping topsoil and stockpiling for reuse,
? Demolition of concrete and re-use in channel berms,
? Excavation of dam fill materials and re-use in channel berms,
? Excavation and off-site disposal of coal waste materials,
? Removal and disposal of piping, catch basin and manhole,
? Removal of sediment and placement on adjacent areas,
? Construction of a temporary river channel using dam excavation material,
? Implementation of an erosion and sediment control plan, including interceptor ditching, berm construction, placement of mulch and hydroseed, and placement of fibre rolls.

This tender is subject to the MASH Procurement Agreement Annex 502.4.
