If you have the opportunity to listen to the council meeting of June 17, 2013 Councillor Brennan seems to make a couple of points clear about this city council, which are not terribly comforting.

As she explained this council seems divided along political ideologies, which would be the division of left wing, right wing, with those on the left of the opinion government can't really ever spend too much provided they think they are providing what the public wants. This side of the spectrum will always come down on the side of ever increasing staff wages which is likely why she and Councillor Greves have such strong union support.
She seemed to think that those on council who are always wanting to cut taxes are just out of touch with the true role of local government, which is why it is likely she will always oppose things such as core reviews and zero based budgeting.
Councillor Brennan makes a strong case as to way we really don't need council oversight regards the city budget. Remember they had the budget staff prepared for five months and did nothing with it. She pretty much says that neither she nor other council members are really very well equipped to pass judgment on the financial plan.
Am I the only one who cringes at the thought of this council being in charge of city finances for one more budget?
Is it possible to recall an entire council and elect a new one with a by-election this year?? I'm serious.
