Garbage Incinerator For Duke Point?

An article in today's Times Colonist reports the Regional District of Nanaimo will consider Metro Vancouver's search for a site for a $500 million waste-to-energy site.

The possibility that Duke Point could be the future location for such a facility which could see about 700,000 tonnes of waste incinerated each year, has RDN Director Alec McPherson sounding the alarm bell. He fears that if the site is located on a piece land appropriately zoned, the district could have little say in the matter.

  1. Not here where a city is developing. Barge it somewhere remote, or keep it over in Vancouver. We can then barge our garbage over there perhaps......
