Liberal Campaign Promise?

An article in the Vancouver Sun reports something I don't recall the Liberals claiming was a plank in their platform. Do you?

I presume it is good political strategy to get the unpopular 'business' out of the way as far ahead of the next election as possible which likely explains the timing of this decision. Of course boosting salaries and fiscal prudence do seem contradictory. Just call me a cynic.

Nanaimo City Manager Earns More Than Chief of Staff

In spite of all the furor that will result from this announcement, it is interesting that it is an 18% raise that brings Clarks top aides maximum salary up to $230,000/yr.

This means her top aide responsible for the entire province of British Columbia is being paid less than our own city manager, Mr. Al Kenning.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
