Bridge Closed While Scaffolding Secured
Scaffold Secured Under The Lions Great Bridge
Painting of the support beams of the Lions Great Bridge, the pedestrian bridge located just north of Maffeo Sutton Park, will take place over the next few weeks (July 9th -31st).
To allow for crews to put scaffolding in place the bridge will be closed to pedestrians beginning Tuesday, July 9th for up to (6) six week days. Please note the bridge will remain open over the weekend. Painting of the beams is expected to begin early next week. The bridge will be open during the painting.
Upon completion of the project the bridge will again need to be closed to pedestrians to allow for the removal of the scaffolding (this closure will only take a few days).
During the closure times please use suggested and signed detour route along Pearson Bridge. Signs are in place along the walkway.
Although crews had hoped to complete this job earlier in the year, the product being used is most effective when applied in dry weather.
The Parks, Recreation and Culture department appreciates your understanding during this disruption.
how exactly does painting qualify as repairs, and who cares in the underside of the bridge needs new paint anyways ??? madness reigns supreme in nanaimo
