Sandsculpture At Woodgrove Mall

INDOOR SAND SCULPTURE AT WOODGROVE CENTRE

International sand sculptor Craig Mutch and team started their latest sand art masterpiece indoors at Woodgrove Centre the evening of July 3, 2013.

Approximately 17 tons of sand and 100 hours of labour are needed to complete the sculpture which is located near the water clock fountain. Completion is expected by July 10, 2013 and the sand sculpture will remain on display until July 28, 2013.

The family friendly theme of “digging for treasure at the beach” will be enjoyed by all ages. Craig Mutch shared, “I truly enjoy what I do and take pleasure in watching people as they discover different elements of the display.”

Craig recently returned from an invitational sand sculpture event for the Helsinki Zoo in Finland. Nola Dunn, Woodgrove Centre’s Marketing Director added, “We are thrilled to have Craig and his team in Nanaimo. It’s wonderful to be able to showcase his amazing talent with visitors to our shopping centre.”

Woodgrove Centre will also be hosting Kids Sand Sculpting demonstrations on July 6 & 7: 11-11:30 am and 2-2:30 pm in centre court. The entire family is invited to learn sand sculpting tips and techniques from Craig Mutch. Children 12 years and under can receive a free sand pail and shovel while quantities last.
