Nanaimo Document Shredding Aug. 10

Guard Against Identity Theft

Saturday August 10th from 11- 4PM the Nanaimo and District Crime Stoppers program and Save On Foods are hosting their second confidential shredding day. Throughout the day, anyone can drop off their documents and for a $10 dollar donation they will be confidentially shredded. Once again, this service is being provided compliments of Island Document Storage and Shredding(IDSS), a Vancouver Island community minded community. This highly popular event is being held in the parking lot of Save On Foods, located at Terminal Park Mall. A barbeque will be up and running with hotdogs and burgers grilled and served by volunteers with the local Crime Stoppers program.

The first event was so successful it was decided to host another one. IDSS and Save On Foods are big supporters of Crime Stoppers and without them this event would not be possible. The purpose of the day is two fold, to raise funds and awareness for the our local Crime Stoppers program and secondly, bring attention to this issue. Identify theft does not discriminate and can impact anyone , regardless of age, sex or financial status. Once your identity is compromised, it may take years and considerable time and money to restore your good name.

If you have any questions about this event , please contact Constable Gary O’Brien Nanaimo RCMP Crime Stoppers Co-ordinator at 250-755-3257
