A Few More Pretty Postcards

Log sort at Kelsey Bay
Rusting out steam locomotive
Yes, that is a black bear .... trust me
Misty morning on the boardwalk
Alert Bay rush hour
A few more snaps from our trip to the north end of the Island. Some of the charm of these spots is the history that they have been able to retain. Whereas many communities seem to do their best to tear down any remnants of our past, to our detriment I think.

A lot of our 'modern' structures are indeed modern but they have as much character as a slice of Wonder bread.

Nanaimo can indeed bill itself as the portal to Vancouver Island but is going to have to step up it's game if it is to be taken seriously as a tourist destination. The NEDC is currently looking for a new person to head up their tourism arm. One of the qualifications of the new manager should include being a magician extraordinaire. As it is going to take a whole lot more than some fancy studies and strategies and websites and brochures to make Nanaimo a legitimate tourist destination.
