Courtenay - Comox Gas Prices - The Best!

Pump Price Sept. 16, 2013
Courtenay BC

I find it hard to believe I would actually take a picture and get excited about the fact I only paid $1.25.9 for regular gasoline, but when compared to the $1.36.9 - $1.39.9 I have been paying in Nanaimo all summer, I do get excited.

But, after being excited I also get a little pee o'd when I think how the local cartel keeps socking it to Nanaimo drivers with seeming impunity. The only reason they seem able to get away with it, is the fact there is no genuine competition in the Nanaimo gas station market, unlike in Courtenay.

Duncan is consistently 5 cents per litre cheaper than Nanaimo, again, due to genuine market pressures because of competition. Perhaps in Nanaimo there are too many stations under the control of the same owner? Obviously if one owner owns multiple gas outlets they are not going to compete with themselves!
