Nanaimo 2013 Harvest Festival

2013 Nanaimo Harvest Festival
Wesley Street, Sept. 14
10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Nanaimo’s third annual Harvest Festival celebrates the local natural food movement. The heart of the Festival is a lineup of 40 vendors, educational displays and interactive presentations focused on the local food movement.

The one-day event includes a ‘Fresh Food Fair’ featuring local chefs and food trucks offering tasty dishes. Non-stop bluegrass and roots blues performers will keep the festival atmosphere lively.

Bunnies, lambs, goats and other baby farm animals are there for your petting pleasure as Tiger Lily Farms returns with their corral of critters for the little ones to learn a bit about farm life. Island Farms’ ‘Farmer Vicki and Daisy the Cow’ will also be on hand.

A Farmer & Vendor Market will offer fresh produce, locally harvested and value-added products from local growers and producers. Over a dozen displays will highlight these food sources, Nanaimo’s emerging regional food strategy, recycling programs, community gardens, information on our water resources, and much, much more.

Live Performances during the day by:

10:30 am – Mount Benson Ceilidh Band
11:30 am – Cross Canada Fiddlers
12:30 pm – Trinitude
