Western Edge Opens 2013 - 14 Season in Nanaimo

WESTERN EDGE OPENS SEASON WITH CONTROVERSIAL POLITICAL COMEDY "PROUD"

Nanaimo's Western Edge Theatre opens its 2013-14 season on Sept. 27th with the most talked-about Canadian play in recent years, Michael Healey's "Proud."

It's 2011. The Prime Minister has just guided his party to a majority government, and will finally be able to realize his big dream of renovating Canada. That isn't going to be easy, but into his office stumbles Jisbella Lyth, the newly elected member for Cormier-Lac-Poule. She may not know a lot about politics, but she turns out to be very, very useful anyway, in this Pygmalion-esque poke at our political class.

"Proud" plays Sept. 27, 28 and Oct. 4, 5, 6 at Nanaimo Centre Stage (25 Victoria Rd.). The play comes with an audience advisory for adult language and content.

Tickets cost $20 for Adults, $17 for Seniors (65+) and $10 for students. They are on sale now at westernedge.org, by phone at 250-668-0991 or 1-888-320-3343, and at Lucid Records and Clothing (15 Commercial St., Nanaimo, service charge applied). They may also be purchased online HERE.
