B.C. Construction Association
Looks To Ireland For Skilled Workers

An article in the National Post reports the B.C. Construction Association will be heading to Ireland to host a Job Expo Oct. 31st in Belfast and in Dublin on Nov. 2, looking to fill 600 skilled trades positions Canadians can't fill.

An association spokesperson said that even if one in five students graduating from high school in B.C. in the next three years were to to pursue a trade, there would still a shortage in the construction industry.

The association will be looking for workers in more than 50 trades, from bricklayers to framing carpenters, power-line technicians to welders. Even architects and structural engineers are in demand.
