Evacuation Siren Testing Colliery Dams
Low volume siren testing
scheduled for November 21 and 22
City crews will be conducting low volume testing of evacuation sirens recently installed in the inundation area below the Lower and Middle Colliery Dams.
The sirens are one of several methods the City is using to alert residents and business owners of an immediate flood risk should the integrity of the dams be compromised during an extreme rainfall or significant seismic event.
The low volume testing will consist of a series of periodic voice tones and sound pulses. Full volume testing of the siren is scheduled for the morning of November 28th.
