Harewood Flood Zone Signs Installed

City Installs Flood Area Warning Signs

A city worker installs one of 50 evacuation route signs in the area below Colliery Dams. This is a part of the campaign to promote public safety which last week saw area residents visited by uniformed RCMP and firemen handing out information about the risk of living below Colliery Dams.

The signs with the familiar blue and white (common to mark tsunami routes) graphics provide residents, drivers and pedestrians:
  • notice they are following the evacuation route
  • they are entering a flood hazard zone
  • they are leaving a flood hazard zone
  • they have arrived at a pedestrian marshalling area
