Is Your Car Ready For a Nanaimo Winter?

Nanaimo 'May' See Some Winter This Year
Are You Ready?

I know our less fortunate friends in other parts of Canada would laugh at what we call winter here in Nanaimo. Our idea of a bad winter is snow that lasts more than two days.

Because we so seldom get any real winter, we sometimes tend to play 'snow tire roulette' and see if we can get by one more year without buying new snows, or whether we might even get by without even putting them on. Sound familiar?

The best advice for anyone seriously playing snow tire roulette is to stay off the roads when/if we do get one of our freak snowfalls. If you don't you will be inviting yourself and others to participate in an unnecessary accident or at the very least having to dig you out, or push you because you are stuck.

Over the next few days, the weatherman is calling for below freezing temperatures and a slight chance of precipitation. I'm no weather genius but precipitation and freezing temperatures sometimes results in that stuff you do have to shovel.

So unless you are going to play snow tire roulette again this year, why not dig out the snows and take them into a shop to have them installed BEFORE you need them.
