No Free Rides For Seniors On BC Ferries

Seniors Help Pay Executive Salaries & Bonuses
No More Free Ridership Mon. - Thurs. Starting April 2014

Effective April 1 2014 BC seniors will no longer be able to ride BC Ferries for free Mon. - Thurs. as they have been doing for years.

Apparently the bean counters at BC Ferries have decided the only way they can pay for those high priced executive salaries and bonuses is if they require seniors to now pay 50% of the regular fare on the days they used to ride for free.

The same bunch that brought you million dollar executive wage and benefit packages, and gas guzzling ocean liners figure they can save $6 million by charging seniors 50% fares Mon. - Thurs. instead of riding for free.

I wonder if they factored in the possible losses to the cafeteria they will incur when all those frugal seniors decide not to ride at all.
