Construction Driven By Need For Medical Buildings

The top photo shows the new 11,000 square foot, 3 storey VIHA buildiing under construction at Terminal Park. The new building is right beside the Saveon More store and will house VIHA administration offices.

The bottom photo is the Millstone Medical Centre at the corner of Dufferin Cresent and Boundary Ave. This was to be the site of 2 - 34 unit supportive housing buildings, but resident pressure resulted in one supportive housing unit finally being approved for the site. This left half the original property available for this medical centre.

The centre will be a 3 storey building offering office lease spaces and potential retail also. There will be nearly 30,000 square feet in the 3 storey building with a 14,500 square foot parking garage below ground.

Jim: Do you have any info on the parking arrangement for the users of the VIHA (now Island Health) buildiing, which is under construction at Terminal Park? One would hope that it will also have underground parking!! Who is the general contractor on this project?

  2. Do not know who the general is but there is no provision for underground parking. The parking available will be greatly reduced given the size of the building and the spaces dedicated to the new building.
