Colliery Dams Site
Investigation Scheduled for January / February 2014
Golder Associates Limited, who is working with the
Colliery Dams Technical Committee to determine options to remediate the Colliery
Dams, will carry out site investigations in January / February 2014.
These
investigations are scheduled as follows:

The week of January 13-17 –
Non-invasive surveys of the Middle and Lower Dams using handheld equipment.
Short-term disruptions to park users may be necessary during this period. It
may be necessary to limit access during the seismic survey, which would only be
for one day.
·
Mid-February – This phase of the
investigation will involve investigative drilling on the dam embankments and the
concrete portions of the dams. Given that drilling equipment will be brought
into the park, portions of the park, access, and trails may be blocked off to
meet WorkSafeBC safety requirements. The duration of this work is unknown;
however, efforts will be made to limit disruption to park
users.
