Nanaimo Community Heritage Commission Hosts 2014 Heritage Summit

On Wednesday, 2014-FEB-19, the City of Nanaimo’s Heritage Commission will be hosting a Heritage Summit at the Nanaimo Museum (100 Museum Way) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The purpose of the summit is to heighten awareness in the community during Provincial Heritage Week (February 17 - 23), as well as network with other local organizations interested in heritage issues.

The event will be separated into two parts. The first part will include a presentation by local resident and historian Mr. Parker Williams on Nanaimo’s historic ships and shipwrecks, in recognition of the Provincial Heritage Week Theme “Heritage Afloat”. The remainder of the evening will be devoted to a round table discussion allowing heritage groups in attendance to share information about their organization’s mandate, recent accomplishments and upcoming projects. The public is welcome to attend. Please RSVP by contacting 250-755-4483 or cultureandheritage@nanaimo.ca.
