The consortium of Seaspan, Urbaser and Wheelabrator have now launched their information website designed to answer your questions about energy from waste technology and the Duke Point proposal in particular.
In Europe landfill has been strongly discouraged since 1999 and recycling and using waste as a fuel to produce energy has been widely practiced which results in sustainable energy which produces both heat and electricity. There is a different mindset at work, which sees land filling of waste, as a waste of energy and something which simply does not make sense. Regardless of how dedicated you are to recycling there will always be a percentage of waste that is simply good for nothing else, and putting it into landfill just doesn't make sense.
