Nanaimo Water May Be Brown

Residents Advised of Occasional Water Quality Disruptions

Commissioning of New Reservoir May Stir up Sediment

Over the next few weeks, the City and their contractor will be commissioning and bringing into service the new Reservoir No 1 and Energy Recovery Facility on Nanaimo Lakes Rd.  This work may cause disruption within the water supply network and stir up accumulated sediments that may be in the pipe.  While we are working to minimize any disturbance, residents may notice times when the tap water is brown.  These disruptions will be temporary, and can be cleaned up by running water through an outside hose bib or cold water tap, such as a bathtub.

Once on-line, 30% of the City's water will be fed through the new Reservoir No 1, and the City will be generating power for sale into the grid.  Reservoir No 1 is located on Nanaimo Lakes Rd near the Nanaimo Parkway.
