Science World At Woodgrove Centre

EXPLORE SCIENCE AND ART WITH SCIENCE WORLD!

Just in time for spring break! Science World On the Road arrives at Woodgrove Centre on March 17, 2014 for a series of live 30 minute science shows over four days. Families are invited to watch the free shows at 11 am and 3 pm March 17-20 in centre court. Their high energy shows will explore a wide range of topics using flying rubber chickens, hair raising electrical experiments, and maybe even a fireball.

In between the science shows, children can take part in a free science on the spot activity, “KEVA building” from noon – 2 pm. Using KEVA wooden planks which are perfectly-cut, identical construction blocks that stack with great stability, participants of all ages can use their imagination to create anything. Marketing Director Nola Dunn commented, “We are very excited to bring Science World to Woodgrove Centre over spring break. The shows and activities will be fun and educational for families.” Recent studies have shown that children who play with blocks often do better later as they study mathematics and physics. Verbal skills and communication are also enhanced as children construct projects together.

Science World is thrilled to be bringing their spectacular, live science shows to Nanaimo. “We know that not everyone is able to come and visit us in Vancouver, so it is always very rewarding to get to bring our live shows to communities around the province. Seeing these world-class demonstrations up close and potentially getting to participate in one as a volunteer is an unforgettable experience,” shared Brian Anderson, coordinator of the On the Road program and one of the performers who will be appearing at Woodgrove Centre.
