Steve Martin and Ron James In Nanaimo
The above screen-grab from the Port Theatre website shows some big show-biz names have noticed Nanaimo and our first class theatre facility.
Steve Martin put on a single performance on Sunday May 11 and Ron James will be performing on Monday May 12. ( I guess his agent didn't know all of Nanaimo will be fixating on our city council meeting).
Given their celebrity status and the level of their performance their ticket prices are likely considered fair and reasonable. A ticket for the Steve Martin gig would have set you back between $127.70 - $143.75 per seat depending on the seat selected. The Ron James ticket price is considerably less at $53 for all seats in the theatre.
I am sure that performances of this caliber help with the taxpayer supported operation of the Port Theatre as the theatre charges a commercial rate of $1250 per performance or 10% of sales.
