May Long Weekend Fun In Nanaimo 2014



Empire Days Parade - Fireworks - Family Fun

This weekend marks the official kick-off to the festival season in Nanaimo and as always the Empire Days parade and fireworks are looked forward to by thousands of Nanaimo residents.

In addition to the parade and fireworks, for the second year now, event organizers have a full, fun, family day of events happening in Diana Krall Plaza downtown.

Weekend Event Highlights

Saturday:
First cannon firing of the season - Pioneer Plaza ( May Queen in attendance)
HMCS Nanaimo Open House - Visitors Pier 1:00 - 4:00 pm All welcome

Sunday : Parade & Fireworks Day!

Family Fun in Diana Krall Plaza (9:00 am - 3:00pm) includes:
pancake breakfast plus hamburgers, poutine, pulled beef and pig on a bun, mini donuts
balloons
fun swing and bouncy castle
Aunty Bobbie 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Ziggy the Trickster 11:30 am - !2:30 pm
Vinny's Last Ride (Classic Rock Band)11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Vista Fire Juggler and Stilt walker 11:45 am - 12:45 pm

PARADE

St. Paul's Anglican Church annual hot dog sale 12:00 noon -
The Bastion Mile Run - Victoria Rd. through downtown 12:50 pm (before parade)
147th Nanaimo Empire Days Parade 1:00 pm downtown Nanaimo, usual route

FIREWORKS

Sunday, at dusk at Maffeo Sutton Park downtown over the harbour
