Nanaimo Empire Days Fireworks A Big Hit

Fireworks Over The Harbour
A Popular Nanaimo Event

As usual downtown Nanaimo was packed on Sunday night as thousands of residents gathered all along the waterfront to witness the display which is the crowning touch to the Empire Days celebrations.

Two years ago, the Society had to cancel the fireworks due to lack of funding, and I think I got more comments on this blog when that happened than for anything else. Local photo artist Sheryl Falls sent along this capture see took from the visitors pier in the harbour.

The next opportunity to see fireworks will be in conjunction with this years Great International Bathtub Race. The fireworks will be on Saturday night July 26 (the night before the race), and the Great Race will be on Sunday July 27th this year.

In the Good Ole Summer Time ...................... In Nanaimo ........................ Can't Beat It!

  1. And who can we thank for coming through with the donations to finance the beautiful show of light?
