Nanaimo Hilton Hotel Proposal

Open House Offers Look At Hotel Proposal

Several hundred Nanaimo residents attended an open house hosted by Stantec to hear about the 30 storey Hilton Hotel being proposed at 10 and 28 Front Street. The project would see a capital investment of more than $100,000,000 being invested in Nanaimo creating between 360 and 600 new jobs in the hotel. Optimistically the project could see shovels in the ground in about 18 months, this is the expected time for the approval process including rezoning, development and building permits and multiple reviews with Hilton.

The current land owner is InSight Holdings LLC and Hilton has committed to the project and is working with InSight and their investor partner(s). The building is being designed to Hilton standards and rooms will be sold to investors individually (through a strata arrangement). Hilton will have full operational control of all hotel rooms and they will be available to guests at any time. Standard residential condos are not proposed on this site.

Hilton has done their due diligence and it is their huge international following which includes tourists from Asia, combined with hotel amenities and the location, both on the waterfront and on the island that will attract new tourism to the area.
