Door Pops Open On Harbour Air Flight

A report on Global news tells of an incident on a Harbour Air flight from Vancouver to Nanaimo on Friday morning. After hitting some turbulence, apparently the door popped open. Because of the design, airflow keeps the door from actually opening but it does not re-latch.

Apparently some calm passengers took turns holding the door until the plane safely landed in Nanaimo, at which time they notified the pilot of the situation. There was no danger to anyone, nor was the aircraft in peril but it must have been a little unsettling for the passengers, who clearly demonstrated cool heads throughout the incident.

The plane will be examined to determine if the problem was caused by mechanical or human error.
