There will be a lot of activities for the whole family to partake in including games, crafts and, of course, learning how to fish. Also Search and Rescue Demos will be held at 12 pm, a trout release at 1 pm and fly tying demos with Island Water Fly Fishers will take place throughout the event.

Family Fishing Day is in partnership with Freshwater Fisheries, Habitat Conservation Foundation, Nanaimo Search & Rescue, Two Men and Their Fishing Rods, Island Waters Fisheries, Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo Fish and Game Protective Association, Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters and Nanaimo Recycling Exchange.
