Governance Review Committee Chair

Nanaimo City Councillor Ted Greves

Nanaimo Governance Review

Councilor Ted Greves who chaired the Governance Review Committee is quoted in today's Daily as saying the main purpose of the documents were to clearly state rules that are already being practiced.

"It really is nothing new and I think we're making a mountain out of a mole-hill, I really do." he said.

Is 'Nothing New' and clearly stating rules already practiced worth
100,000 TAX DOLLARS???

If you put together some of the dots and apply even rudimentary logic, you have to really question just who the heck we are paying at city hall to conduct the affairs of a $200,000,000/yr corporation? Everyone asked about this $100,000 document will tell you it contains nothing that is not already in the Community Charter. If that is the case, why does it take a 20 page document to say 'nothing new'?

Councillor Greves described the document as being non-binding on councilors and likened it to something you would have a bad kid at school sign, promising to behave. Really?? And the taxpayers of Nanaimo paid $100,000 to tell this Mayor and Council how to do what they are already doing??
