Pond Scum At Swy-a-lana Lagoon
I realize it is a naturally occurring form of algae (I hope) that graces the recirculating pools around the lagoon at Maffeo Sutton Park.
Given our enormous parks budget I would like to think that before an event like Canada Day, Dragon Boats, Silly Boats Regatta or the World Famous Bathtub Race, we could deploy one or two city staff members with some type of skimmer to remove what can only be described as a gross form of naturally occurring algae.
Come on guys, how long could it take?? Give me a skimmer, a bucket and an hour, and I'll clean up the whole disgusting looking mess.
Right on Jim. This in spite of the fact that I have pointed this out a few times before. If it is a design problem I'm sure City staff knows how to pay engineering consultants a couple of million dollars to come up with a mega project.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that some one else is finally paying attention to this " beautiful" looking site. I talk about it 18 months ago in the Mayor's office and also with the chief of parks department but neither of these elected chiefs care enough to address that issue till now. What a shame to have this unhealthy and ugly water park being unattended. I would like to invite Mr. Mayor & Parks Dept. chief & their family to spend weekends to take a swim in it.
