FISHING FOR SALMON IN NANAIMO

FISHING FOR SUPPER RIGHT DOWNTOWN

As all of us know who live here, Nanaimo is truly an outdoor paradise with our miles and miles of trails and acres and acres of parks and miles and miles of shoreline, the outdoors beckons at every turn.

One of the more alluring calls of our great outdoors is the opportunity to catch a fresh salmon for supper right from the shore! The above pic was snapped yesterday at the mouth of the Millstone River right beside Maffeo Sutton park. I doubt if the salmon are back yet in huge numbers but one report was that fish were being taken and that there were lots in the area right now.

Another popular spot for land-locked anglers is Departure Bay, where the salmon have also been returning the past week or so.

What a great way to spend another sunny Sunday in Nanaimo.
