SCHOOLS COULD BE OPEN BY MONDAY

UNION ASKS TEACHERS TO ACCEPT DEAL

It is being reported that the tentative deal hammered out between the BCTF and the Provincial government, if ratified could see school's open again by next Monday.

A few highlights of the tentative deal includes a 7.25% salary increase over six years and the creation of a $400 million education fund to be used to hire additional teachers and address class size and composition.

The agreement says the education fund will begin in this academic year and discontinue in the 2018 -2019 academic year.

Premier Clark is calling the deal a 'game changer' saying it will allow for six years of peace during which time the government and teachers can sit down and work together rather than arguing and fighting all the time.

Comment: and some kids say yay!! and some kids say boo - hiss! and all parents say FINALLY!
