First Nanaimo Vital Signs Report

Nanaimo's First Annual Check-up

The first Vital Signs undertaken by the Nanaimo Foundation is now complete and makes for some interesting reading.

One of the pages in the report I thought interesting was:

TOP TEN BEST OF NANAIMO
(in ranked order)
  1. Natural Environment
  2. Parks
  3. Climate
  4. Friends & Family
  5. Sense of Community
  6. Air Quality
  7. Locally Grown Food
  8. Recreation & Sports
  9. Arts & Culture
  10. Walkability
TOP TEN MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES
  1. Employment Opportunities
  2. Community Planning & Development
  3. Affordable Housing
  4. The Economy
  5. Transportation
  6. Poverty
  7. Education
  8. Cost of Living
  9. Health Care
  10. Mental Illness
These were the findings after receiving over 900 responses to a survey conducted this year. Would you agree with their findings? Of the top ten important issues all have economic conditions as their root. If item #4 were resolved, all else would fall into place.
