Complaint Filed Against Councillor Brennan

Chief Electoral Officer Asked To Investigate

"Unlawful actions on general voting day"

Nanaimo resident Dominic Jones has filed an official complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer asking for a formal investigation into the unlawful actions on general voting day by Mrs. Diane Brennan.

Mr. Jones says he is of the steadfast belief based on attached evidence that without her deliberate unlawful actions in the election, Mrs. Brennan would have failed to secure sufficient votes to be elected on Nov. 15, 2014.

Mr. Jones estimated that Mrs. Brennan's unlawful advertising on Twitter and Facebook had a total measurable potential reach of 4.304 people. The number being overwhelmingly material to the election result considering the slim margin by which she secured election.

  1. I wonder how many of the 6547 people that voted for her would like to rescind there vote of her?

  3. Whether her illegal advertising gained her 100 extra votes or not is really irrelevant - the number of votes she received is irrelevant. What IS relevant is that she broke the law, and continued to do so despite being warned by electors and being warned by Elections BC. For that alone, she should be disqualified. Period.

  4. She needs to be held accountable.. the rules are the rules. It's not fair to the others running. Even the newly running parties knew better, yet she should have with her experience in the election race.

  5. This cannot be ignored. Her election must be disqualified and either the candidate with the next highest votes (Patje) replace her, or a by-election held (for which she should pay the costs). Who wants to start a petition?
