Nanaimo Candidates Wardrobe?

The Cloak of Invisibility?

This is turning out to be one strange election cycle for yours truly since I am now running as a candidate I pretty much removed myself from the campaign reporting scene for obvious reasons.

That said, putting myself into the place of the average nanaimo voter (at least 26.9% of those eligible) I have to wonder what is the basis for making your decisions as to whom to support. Speaking for myself, I have tried to provide as much pertinent information as I can on my website, which I presume other candidates are doing as well. But anyone looking to the local press ( I use the word lightly ) to help them form an opinion are being provided nothing useful at all.

Of course both print media will produce their 'special election' editions complete with in-depth, insightful material provided by the candidates. (Trust me, we all say we are wonderful).

A RACE FOR MAYOR ------ really? ----- who's running ------- what are the issues?

Last time I checked there were ten hats in the Mayoral race ring and as close as I am to the election, I am hard pressed to name all candidates. I am even harder pressed to tell you any fundamental differences between any of them except for perennial favourite Brunie Brunie and newcomer Al Thompson.

I'm not sure why the 'Big Boys' (those running for Mayor) are getting no ink whatsoever in the local papers (there's that word again). Perhaps the local ink-slingers simply don't think there are any issues worth raising, or perhaps the local ink-slingers don't know how to form a question worth asking?

This post is more or less a repeat of one I posted earlier along the same line, but I had hoped that by now, with less than two weeks to go, the local lame-stream media might have actually awakened from their slumber and started doing their civic duty for a change.

There are times when I wonder if the Mayoral candidates 'handlers' don't subscribe to the old bit of advice: "it is better to keep silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!".
