TURN OUR SEWAGE INTO POTABLE WATER?

USE IT TO ELIMINATE A FUTURE DAM?

PRODUCE STEAM AND ELECTRICITY?

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES IN NOnanimo?

I am certain there are a bazillion reasons why this would not work in NOnaimo, and I am sure there are many expert authorities who will explain it to me.

Right now we are building a $70,000,000.00+ water treatment plant that removes all particulate, when combined with chlorination we will have successfully taken pristine drinking water, and turned it into pristine drinking water.

At the other end of the loop we are spending another $20,000,000.00 +/- to replace 2km of sewer pipe to carry 'treated effulent' (not sewage) out to the area around Hudson Rocks where it is discharged into the cleansing ocean. I have not taken the time to find out exactly what happens with all the solid by-products produced in the treatment process, but suffice to say, I doubt it produces any income from it's sale and I suspect it's disposal is another cost of the system.

We are currently looking into ways of meeting future water demands of the growing community which could include another dam or other mulit-million dollar options. In the meantime we are spending huge amounts of money treating sewage which is also combined with a large amount of storm sewer water before discharging it into the ocean.

WHAT IF..............

What if you could extract all that water currently flowing through the sewage treatment plant and instead of discharging it into the ocean, captured it and put it back into circulation. What if, in the process of doing that you took the dried sludge after the water is extracted and used it to fuel a (dare I say, incinerator) which converts that sludge to fuel which creates steam and electricity.

Would never work you say?? Certainly not in NOnanaimo. Or could it??
