Nanaimo Loses 208 Jobs?

Saveon Foods Terminal Park & Target Closing

While none of them are high-paying, family supporting jobs, Nanaimo has suffered the loss of about 208 jobs in the past week. This is made up of the 68 jobs lost at Terminal Park Saveon Foods and 140 jobs lost at Target.

Add to that the number of high-paying family supporting oil-patch jobs that have likely been lost this past week and it is not a very pretty picture.

  1. Gotta get a city job. Complete job security and wage increases in perpetuity.

With what information are you drawing that conclusion? The jobs might not be high paying, but I would put money on the fact that many of those jobs were in fact supporting families, maybe many more than you'd expect.

I have no idea where you drew the idea from that only high paying jobs support families in our community, but I challenge you to re-examine your assumptions on this topic.
