Ban On Doctor Assisted Suicide Struck Down

Justitia stands at the entrance to Supreme Court

The Canadian Press is reporting that the Supreme Court of Canada has unanimously struck down the ban on providing a doctor-assisted death to a mentally competent but suffering and "irremediable" patients.

The historic decision gives Parliament a year to draft legislation recognizing the right of clearly consenting adults who are enduring intolerable suffering - physical or mental - to seek medical help in ending their lives.
