Nanaimo Crime Map

 There is a map on the city website which shows recent crime activity across the city. The default map shows incidents for the past 14 days however if you click on the + Show Filters button you can change the date range and incidents reported.

 The incidents are broken down as Break and Enter, Mischief, Other, Shoplifting, Theft, Theft from Motor Vehicle and Theft of Motor Vehicle. You can also apply filters for specific areas of Nanaimo as well.

    This "Crime Map" stuff strikes me as useless and a wasre of time and money? The one thing this video game may do is tell theives where the least expected areas are. Silly, silly, silly.

    I don't think it is silly at all. It should alert people to crime in their area which hopefully might make them more vigilant watching out for their neighbours etc. It might also encourage neighbourhood watch programs if certain areas seem problematic. I think it is an excellent feature and could do a lot of good.
