Tree Management and Protection Bylaw
A permit may be required for the removal of even one tree
The City of Nanaimo would like to remind residents that there is a Tree Management and Protection Bylaw in Nanaimo and that a permit may be required for the removal of even one tree on private property. The bylaw was reviewed, revised and passed by Council in December of 2013 and can be found on line at the City of Nanaimo's website. Garry Oaks, Arbutus, Pacific Dogwood and Western Yew are of particular concern. A full list of tree species and critical sizes is listed in the bylaw.
The City would also like to remind residents that it is illegal to trespass on to public property to prune or remove trees for any reason without consent from the City.

On the corners of Dover Road/Mystic Way, the overgrown shrubs have completely blocked the signage for Georgia Strait View Neigbourhood. These signs have been placed on a retaining wall in stone on both sides of Mystic Way. Not sure if I am contacting the correct person(s).
