Any weekend warrior who has taken it upon themselves to change a light switch would never dream of doing it without turning off all the power in the house! Those who don't quickly learn why electricians are called 'sparkies' in the trade.
That said, this hydro crew replaced a hydro pole and transferred all of the wires from the old pole to the new pole, without turning the power off in the area. It is amazing what a couple of well equipped trucks and a well trained crew can accomplish.
These men and women are just another part of the largely unseen 'glue' that keeps our society together and functioning. They don't get the high praise and recognition that our fire and police members get, but they are equally as deserving.
