Close Encounters With Orcas - Anderson Island

Really excited until Orcas 'get too close for comfort'

Both of these videos were taken last December off Anderson Island which is in Puget Sound and is part of Pierce County, Washington, United States.

Thanks to the age of modern digital cameras both of these videos are excellent quality and are nearly as good as really being there. Everyone was really excited to see the whales breaching and splashing about, from a distance, but when then they got a little too close for comfort.

I remember at least three occasions when I was fishing off Nanaimo in the 70's seeing Orcas coming through Dodd Narrows and twice swimming under my boat at a depth they were very visible. Needless to say, the fishing dropped off as soon as they came through.
