Committee, Boards and Commission Appointments

Council appoints new members to City Committees, Boards and Commissions

"Council Committees, Boards and Commissions play an important role, both in terms of reviewing and discussing topics of important community interest, but also in their service as a valuable source of information and advice to Mayor and Council.  I would like to welcome everyone to their new positions and acknowledge their ongoing commitment to Nanaimo." :Mayor McKay.

After reviewing applications, Nanaimo City Council has named new members to Council Committees, Boards and Commissions.  A listing of all members, along with the name of the Committee, Board or Commission to which they have been appointed, is available on the City's website .

The membership term for each of these appointments is generally a three-year term expiring in March 2018. During that time they will meet to consider important issues affecting Nanaimo and its citizens.

They advise City Council on matters relating to policy, planning and the provision of services while groups like the Board of Variance support City governance which is required by provincial mandate.

The appointments are to: Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability, Board of Variance, Design Advisory Panel, Grants Advisory Committee, Nanaimo Culture and Heritage Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning and Transportation Advisory Committee, Safer Nanaimo Advisory Committee and the Social Planning Advisory Committee.

You can see the complete list of all committees etc. in addition to the names of all members on the City website HERE.

Note: Kudos to members of our community who are willing to donate their time and considerable knowledge to make their community a better place to live.
