Tilray Announces Record Harvests

Release of premium medical cannabis

NANAIMO, British Columbia-- (BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tilray, a Health Canada licensed producer of medical cannabis, today informed registered patients of record harvests and the upcoming release of more than 140 kg of premium medical cannabis, which will be made available in the month of April. Tilray also informed its patients that beginning in May, the company’s production schedule is poised to deliver 50 kg of premium medical cannabis per week on a consistent, ongoing basis.

The 140 kg that will be available for purchase in April will be released over the next two weeks. This morning, 10 kg of Cannatonic were made available. On April 16th, a combined 40 kg of Cheese, Fruit Spirit, Green Cush and GSC will be made available. On April 22nd, a combined 90 kg of Afghan Kush, Barbara Bud, Black Tuna, Green Cush, Headband, Watermelon, Sativa House Blend, and +CBD House Blend will be available.

“We’re thrilled that our state-of-the-art research and production facility has more than tripled its production capacity compared to last year, and that going forward we will be able to deliver high-quality, premium medical cannabis to our patients on a consistent, ongoing basis,” said Tilray CEO Greg Engel. “Over the past several months, our patients have been extremely gracious and understanding as we encountered unanticipated delays that resulted in limited product supplies.”

“As a professional medical cannabis industry emerges in Canada, we’re proud to be working with Health Canada to deliver pure, safe, and consistent medicine for thousands of patients across the country,” said Engel.

In January and February of this year, Tilray informed patients that it had received approvals from Health Canada for 24 additional grow rooms, effectively tripling the company’s production capacity compared to 2014. Tilray immediately potted thousands of plants in those rooms, and the medical cannabis grown in them is now reaching the end of its processing cycle. Construction of the facility is complete and it is operating at 85 percent capacity. Pending the approval of six additional grow rooms by Health Canada, the facility will be operating at full capacity. Tilray is hopeful that the approvals will be granted in the coming weeks.

Tilray’s state-of-the-art research and production facility is one of the largest and most sophisticated indoor medical cannabis research and production facilities in the world. The company has invested $25 million in the 60,000 sq. ft. facility, and currently employs more than 140 people across Canada (the majority of whom are based in Nanaimo, B.C.). Tilray is currently cultivating more than 30,000 medical cannabis plants representing 40 different strains, including sativas, indicas, hybrids and high-CBD varieties.
