City Manager says he pays no more than assessed property value?

At the May 4th city council meeting during a discussion about a property acquisition associated with the Linley Valley connector, City Manager Mr. Swabey said that he (the city) does not pay more than the assessed value of a property, thus insuring taxpayers get maximum value for their tax dollars.

Either he misspoke or the reported assessed values of the land the city purchased in the Linley Valley were grossly understated.

That entire conversation was skewed to the ridiculous. Why is every tax payer paying for a road that benefits only a few people and the developers? No wonder we pay such high taxes, we subsidize every frickin’ development that will never return to us the tax base needed to support itself.
