Flags Fly At Maffeo Sutton Park - 43rd year

NEWS RELEASE

Folk Festival flags to fly

The skyline at Maffeo Sutton Park will get a bit brighter this week as the Nanaimo International Folk Festival Society flags are installed for the season.

Proceeds from an annual banquet fundraiser are used to purchase the flags of the members’ countries. The International Folk Festival Society wishes to thank Nanaimo for 43 years of generous support. The group works with the city parks department to provide this colourful display each year.

For more information on the Nanaimo International Folk Festival Society, please contact Sue Ghose at 751-1223 (President).

* On display for 2015 the nations represented will include: Canada, China, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Ukraine.

"Every year we have new members join the Society, which is why we see different countries flags flying each year." - Sue Ghose President Nanaimo International Folk Festival Society
