Parklet Adds to Downtown Nanaimo Atmosphere

More inviting than the Krall Space??

This little $12,000 addition to Commercial Street certainly adds greatly to the atmosphere downtown by creating an inviting little retreat in the midst of the hustle and bustle of a vibrant segment of downtown.

It occurred to me when the parklet was officially opened that it pretty much eclipses anything that the great open, barren plaza known as the Krall Space has to offer. In fact with the library currently closed for renovation there is precious little to attract anyone to that space at all.

Perhaps the City should engage the same talent pool that brought this parklet to life and see what they can come up with to breath some life into Diana Krall Plaza which stands as a testimony of how to not create a welcoming 'people place'.

  1. Very nice! The best thing to happen to downtown in years.
