Parkway Trail Section Widened & Repaved

1.4 Kilometres between East Wellington & Northfield Rd.

The stretch of the Parkway trail running from East Wellington Road through to Northfield Rd. was recently redone due to the effects of age and tree roots that were pushing up sections of the asphalt.

The old asphalt was removed and then reused, being mixed with the mulched roots to create a new base for the new trail. The resurfaced trail provides a smoother and safer surface which is now actually wider and now has half metre shoulders on both sides of the trail.

The Parkway Trail was built in 1997 prior to the E & N trail. It is a recreational corridor that links into other park amenities and trail loops such as Colliery Dam, Morrell Sanctuary, Westwood Lake, Vancouver Island University, Buttertubs Marsh and Bowen Park.

Residents are encouraged to report any trail issues to Parks, Recreation and Environment at 250-756-5200.
