Colliery Park Spillway Protest

THREE CHAINED TO A TREE IN PARK

According to a reliable news source (Facebook) three local residents are taking their protest to the next level by chaining themselves to a tree in the park.

According to the Facebook post Terry Lee Wagar (pictured above), Andy Porter and Leon Cake have chained themselves to a tree in the park in an effort to stop what they see as needless destruction needed to install an auxiliary spillway.

It has always been a mystery as to why so many Nanaimo residents see Nov.m content to see millions of tax dollars spent in such a questionable fashion. In my opinion there has been nothing about this project that made much sense from the beginning.

During the election last November members of this Council, including Mayor McKay seemed to agree that the whole Colliery Dams Debacle made no sense. It is curious how one can go from the 'dams are just fine' to we just have to do it once safely elected.

  1. Mr. Wager is right. Mayor Bill McKay is a "Flip-Flopper" on this, and many, many other issues.

Take the Parkay Margarine crown off the mayor's his big head and bring him back to earth and the people who he said he represented when a councilor.

  2. As the Mayor once said, it was "a dark day for Nanaimo". At least for those of us who are interested in justice.
