Demolition ordered at July 20 Council meeting
The owners of the property at 250 Terminal Ave. had asked council for a six months extension to provide security on this site. The site had become a nuisance with evidence of squatters, drug paraphernalia and even signs of fire.
The city did not grant the owners request for an extension and put the owners under an order to clean up the site within 60 days or the city would do the work and charge the owners.
DBL Contracting is currently in the process of demolishing the buildings and hauling away the rubble. Whether the site is now destined to be another fenced vacant lot waiting for development remains to be seen, but the owner did not suggest any immediate plans for developing the site when asking for the extension.
Since it's been two months since the city order, is it the property owner or city that gave the construction crew the order to move in?
